Helsing appoints Andriy Shevchenko as Managing Director for Ukraine

Helsing, Europe’s leading defence AI company, today announced that Andriy Shevchenko will join the team as Managing Director for Ukraine, effective immediately.
Andriy brings leadership experience across diplomacy, politics, and defence. He served as Deputy Minister of Defence, Ambassador of Ukraine to Canada and as Ukraine's Representative to the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). Andriy also served three terms as a Member of the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament.
Andriy is joining Helsing as the company continues to double down in Ukraine. Helsing has been present in the country since early 2022, and the team has grown steadily since. Thousands of units of HX-2, Helsing's AI-enabled strike drone, have been deployed to the Armed Forces of Ukraine since the beginning of this year alone. Onboard artificial intelligence ensures that HX-2 remains effective even in GNSS-denied environments, enabling it to search for, re-identify, and engage targets independently of hostile electronic warfare measures. Capable of engaging military targets at beyond-line-of-sight range of up to 100 km, HX-2 has made a significant contribution to the mid-range strike complex, supporting operations like the “Logistics Lockdown”, helping to disrupt Russian logistics at operational depth.
Gundbert Scherf, co-CEO and co-founder of Helsing, says: "Ukraine is part of Helsing. We’ve been on the ground for years, working hand-in-hand with the defence forces, and Andriy is the perfect leader to scale that mission. With his rare blend of political, military, and diplomatic expertise, he is uniquely equipped to drive our next chapter of commitment to Ukraine. We are thrilled to welcome him to the team."
Andriy Shevchenko says: "The war in Ukraine shows that battlefield advantage is defined by the combination of hardware and software – and the speed at which technology reaches the soldier. Helsing is at the forefront of this transformation, and I am proud to contribute to its mission in Ukraine."
